Aug. 16 events: Bohemian Flats Day, Gallery 122 art market
Bohemian Flats Day
Aug. 16, noon–5 p.m.
Riverside Park

Celebrate a “forgotten Minneapolis community” at the historic site of the old Bohemian Flats (also known as Brewery Flats, Danish Flats and Slovak Flats) located below the Washington Avenue bridge. From the 1860s until 1932, the flats were home to a variety of immigrants: Swedish, Scandinavian, Danish, Irish, Italian, Russian, Czech and Slovak. Past residents will return to share their memories of living on the Bohemian Flats, a history tent will display historical documents and there will be grilled brats with sauerkraut.
